2016 difficult year in review for the Haitian people!

Dear supporters:

2016 was a difficult year for the Haitian people. In addition to there being a paucity of jobs, clear water, food, access to healthcare, Hurricane Matthew impacted Haiti in a devastating manner. Fortunately, there are many organizations, such as Elevate Haiti Ministries, Inc. (EHM) that continue to assist the Haitian people.

As the president of EHM, I traveled to Haiti three times in 2016 to assist the Haitian people and to ensure that we are meeting our goals.

With your support in 2016, here are some of the initiatives/services we accomplished:

  • Created a computer lab
  • Started to replace old school desks with new ones
  • Collected and shipped hygiene supplies to Haiti
  • Opened the Gissendanner Medical Center for a week to see assist over 200 patients
  • First Kingdom’s Men Conference
  • Provided food to students  and community members periodically
  • Conducted self-esteem workshops for your girls
  • Conducted professional development training for teachers
  • Provided tuxedos and wedding dresses to six couples who got married in August
  • Took care of the twelve boys under our care
  • Replaced several pews in the church
  • Distributed clothes and shoes to Lathan residents

During our last trip on December 24- 30, 2016, we finished wiring the computers and installed internet. Through several converters, we were able to provide electricity to the boy’s home, the computer lab and the Gissendanner Medical Center. Also, on Christmas Day, we fed the students from the schools as well as their parents. We also provided toys to the students. We also met with our teachers to hear about some of the challenges that they continue to face as well to give them a yearend bonus.  We had a party for our boys where they received a lot gifts and surprises. Before we left, we took our boys to the beach where we spent quality times with them.

Our goals for 2017 is to complete projects, such as: making the computer lab available to our students and staff, paying the school fees and supplies for the 130 students; repairing the school and providing electricity; repairing our water purification system; upgrading the school desks; visiting hospitals; giving raises to our teachers and continuing to assist the 12 young men under our care financially, educationally, emotionally and spiritually.

As you can see, the workload and our needs are still astounding. Please give us a call if you have any questions or suggestions or wish to make a donation.  We can be reached at 585-978-5622.

We thank you so much for your benevolence, your monetary assistance and your overall support.

Blessings!
Roosevelt
