Marc E. Mareus was born on September 29, 1948, in a village called Biaou in Haiti, to two lovely parents: Mr. St. Louis Mareus, and Mrs. Emilie Mareus. Marc was the youngest of ten children born to St. Louis and Emilie. He attended Elementary Baptist Evangelical School, Ecole Secondaire Franck L Gilles and went on the Nazareen Bible College.

In 1970, Pastor Marc Mareus met and married a wonderful, beautiful young lady by the name of Gislene Mareus. From this union, five children were born. Pastor Marc Mareus was a great man of God who raised his family in church. He was a wonderful husband and great family man. Marc was great role model and a mentor to many. He had strong work ethic, and was a good steward of God’s blessings in his life. He wanted to give back to Haiti, so many years ago the Lord placed a burden on his heart to start a school (Ecole Primaire et Secondaire de Pecheur D’hommes). Marc’s vison for the school was to give a destitute community an opportunity to go to school at a discounted rate. After the school was built, he saved additional money to build Croisade Evangelique des Pecheurs D’Hommes de L’Athan (Church) which was built above the school. He didn’t stop right there. He
later added a health clinic and opened an orphanage which became the home for 12 boys.

In 1974, he migrated to Brooklyn where he became a community leader, a real estate agent and a manager who employed a myriad of Haitian people. He worked for Bag Bazaar and Michael Stevens Inc. for many years until the company closed in 1994. Due to his health, he was no longer able to work but he continued work in ministry. Through all the challenges he faced, he did not waiver his love for Christ and family. He spent more time focusing on transforming the lives of the Haitian people in the Lathan community. Many who knew Pastor Mareus would speak of his incredible courage in the face of adversity. He was one never to give up because he believed nothing is impossible for Yahweh and thus gained strength from the knowledge that Jesus brings hope and healing—emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

Pastor Marc E Mareus went on to be with the Lord on March 31, 2020. He is survived by his wife Gislene Mareus.
