As you know by now, a devastating earthquake occurred in Haiti on Saturday. Many of you have reached to us to check on the boys under our care, family members, the school and the church. While the boys, school kids, family and church members are doing okay physically, they are struggling mentally. Since the earthquake happened on Saturday, many of them have been sleeping outside because of the numerous aftershocks.

The recent earthquake coupled with the gangs violence, our president being assassinated last month, paucity of jobs, and access to food, healthcare, clean water and education are causing them to lose hope. In addition, tropical storm Grace is coming. The heavy rain could lead to flooding and mudslides, furthering complicating the recovery efforts. Consequently, countless people in Haiti feel like Haiti cannot catch a break.

When I’m asked why we should care about what happens in Haiti, I think about the scripture that says: You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor. With that being said, I am asking for your support and participation in this important and urgent fundraiser being conducted by Elevate Haiti Ministries, Inc.

Currently, Ecole Primaire et Secondaire de Pecheur D’hommes has over 180 students, it is one of the best schools Lathan community. However, due to the $100 per student enrollment fee, many parents are forced to delay their child’s entry to the school. Parents are not able to sacrifice their limited income for schooling. Therefore our goal is raise enough money to cover the costs for 180 students.

I thank you in advance for your support! You can either donate online at elevatehaiti.org or send a check to Elevate Haiti Ministries, Inc. at P.O. Box 24803, Rochester, NY 14624. Elevate Haiti Ministries, Inc. is a 501c3 foundation. Your contribution is tax deductible.

Please give me a call at 585-978-5622 if you have any questions or concerns.

Best,

Roosevelt
